Heat rises, and in an uninsulated home, a quarter of heat is lost through the roof. Insulating your loft is a simple and effective way to reduce heat loss and reduce your heating bills.
If you have loft insulation that was installed some time ago, it’s probably thinner than specified by modern building regulations. You could benefit from increasing its thickness by having a ‘top up’ layer installed. The current recommended depth for mineral wool insulation is 270mm.
Loft insulation is simple to install and effective for at least 42 years and it should pay for itself many times over.
