ECO is a government initiative created to help people keep their homes warm, especially throughout the winter months. This help is provided by installing home improvements, designed to save energy and money on your energy bills. Because this is so important, it has been decided to subsidise these improvements to certain groups of people.

To be eligible, you must be an owner occupier or private tenant.
Your home must be considered suitable. When you contact us we will need to ask you some questions about your property. We will confirm upon survey whether the installation can go ahead.
The home assessment is to check if it is suitable for energy efficiency improvements. During the visit we will take measurements and photographs of your home as part of the assessment process. We may also require you to provide proof of your current, in-date, tenancy agreement if you are a private tenant, and benefit eligibility if you have applied for a replacement gas boiler. The technical survey and energy performance assessment may take place on the same day. In some cases we may arrange two separate visits.
We will identify and discuss with you the improvements recommended for your home. The visit should take approximately one or two hours but maybe longer depending on the property.
What is classed as a ‘suitable’ property?
There are a number of details that need to be considered if your property is to be classed as suitable. These are different for each energy efficiency improvement. However, in all cases, the energy assessment calculates the difference the improvement(s) will make to the energy efficiency of your property. If this shows an appreciable difference, so that it provides a significant energy saving to you by its installation, we should be able to go ahead with it. We will confirm this with you.
If you’re a tenant, we’ll need permission from your landlord to install improvements in your home. If you’re a landlord and tenants are currently renting your property, you’ll also need their permission before we can continue. You’ll need to provide their contact details, so we can get in touch with them.
Once your chosen improvement has been confirmed, we will advise which you are eligible to receive a grant for and what costs you will be required to pay. Following this the installation will be organised for a date that’s convenient, which will be carried out around one to two weeks after your technical survey. You’ll also need to agree a contract for the improvements with us. All work will be carried out by us with as little disruption as possible.
You’ll receive your warranty and maintenance documents two to three weeks after install.
All improvements are subject to eligibility and suitability checks, and only available to privately owned and rented homes. Privately rented homes will require landlord approval.
A replacement gas boiler will be dependent on the outcome of our qualified installer’s assessment and is only available where the property already has gas central heating and a water filled radiator system in place.
Insulation is not available if you already have cavity wall insulation, or loft insulation over 100mm thick. Cavity wall insulation is not available for homes greater than two storeys in height or buildings that comprise of a number of flats/maisonettes. Access must be available to all external walls in the property in order to carry out cavity wall insulation.
Asbestos removal, scaffolding costs and items such as replacement of faulty parts, cosmetic works and decorating or system improvements are not included. Where such items not included in the grant are required, these additional costs will be discussed with Chimera Motors Classic Car Service & Restoration and you prior to the installation.
